Tool:BambuLab P1S (3D printer)
We have a BambuLab P1S 3D printer. We have a 0.4 mm nozzle, different PET-G and PLA filaments, a Bambu Textured PEI plate and Bambu Smooth PEI plate.
Software
To use this printer, you need the Bambu Studio software. This can be downloaded here: https://bambulab.com/en-eu/download/studio (free, Windows and Mac only) You need to create a (free) account, and log in. Then, connect to the BambuWifi. Ask someone for the password. When connected to the BambuWifi, the printer should be shown at the 'Device' tab. Click on the device and it asks you for the access code. This code can be found on the printer itself. Use the arrow keys next to the screen on the printer to navigate to Settings > WLAN > Access Code. Use this access code to connect your pc to the printer.
Alternative Open Source Software
Instead of using Bambu Studio software, you can use open source (AGPLv3 license) software aswell. Since Bambu Lab is using open source licensed software for it's slicer, there is this fork which you can use, and even prohibit access to the Bambu Lab cloud services (a feature you will want to have). In the meanwhile, Louis Rossmann from FULU foundation in the USA is publicly challenging Bambu Labs to sue him for violating Bambu Lab's Licenses. Read more about this here: Tweakers-writeup.

Download and install a release for your OS. During the configuration of the software you:
- Select region (Europe)
- Printer Selection (Bambu P1S)
- Filament selection (choose bambu filaments)
- Enable Stealth mode (you want this to prefend Bambu Lab printer to update firmware without your consent)
- Proprietary plugins: select "install bambu Network plugin". You need this to communicate with the printer
Then, connect to the BambuWifi. Ask someone for the password.
When connected to the BambuWifi, the printer should be shown at the 'Device' tab. Click on the device and it asks you for the access code. This code can be found on the printer itself. Use the arrow keys next to the screen on the printer to navigate to Settings > WLAN > Access Code. Use this access code to connect your pc to the printer.
Alternatively use the manual connection button to enter the printer name (Bambu Lab P1S) and serial number (can be found on the printer in the menu).
Set up project
In the 'Prepare' tab, place your 3D file and position it on the plate. Select the filament you want to use (it can be necessary(?) to go to the "Device" tab and connect to the printer and load the right filament first). Slice it (or click the 'Preview' tab), and you will see the estimated time and other stats. You can now send it to the printer.
After printing
The mat attaches to the print bed magnetically. It takes a little bit of force to pull off the mat from the print bed, it's easiest to start in a corner.
The printer always prints some exess filament on the bottom side of the plate. Please remove this after printing. Also, it's appreciated if you clean the mat with a little bit of bio-ethanol after your print.
Costs
You only pay for the filament. In the 'Preview' tab you see the amount of grams of filament your print will use. The costs are €0,03 per gram.
You can transfer the costs to the account `3d-printer` on RevBank. Use `give 3D-printer <amount>`, e.g. `give 3D-printer 6` if you printed 200 grams. Then, the next command is your username.
